What is Japanese mahjong?
Riichi Mahjong is a Japanese form of mahjong: a tile-based tabletop game usually played by four people. It combines strategy, observation and decisions about which tiles to keep or discard to build a winning hand.
At Mahjong CDMX you can learn in person, ask questions as you play and meet others who enjoy the game. You do not need to know the rules or have any previous experience.

How to join a beginner session
We meet at third-party venues in Mexico City. Check the location of each gathering, as sessions may take place at different venues.

Come ready to learn
Beginner sessions are free and we bring the tiles. You can come on your own; you do not need to bring a group to join the club.
Before your first game
Do I need to know the rules or speak Japanese?
You do not need experience or Japanese language skills. Beginner sessions let you get to know the tiles, learn the basic rules and ask questions step by step.
How much does it cost and what should I bring?
Beginner sessions are free. The club brings the tiles, so you do not need to buy a set to get started.
Can I come on my own?
Yes, you can come on your own. Confirm your attendance at a beginner session and meet the community at the table.
What if a session is full or cancelled?
Check the session status before leaving. If it is full or cancelled, choose another available date. Contact us if you have questions.
